Electrical Engineering Internship Position Description Please note: this
position requires on site part time work during the school semester and
offers full time in the summer. This is NOT a winter break or summer
only internship. Allient Milwaukee builds TCI branded product and is a
dynamic, growing Milwaukee area manufacturer of industry leading
products for AC and DC drives. Job Description This position is for an
engineering intern to aid in the application, testing, repair and
support of TCI\s flagship active and passive harmonic filter product
lines into industrial power systems. As an engineering intern you will
work hands-on in simulation, analysis, testing, troubleshooting,
building and documentation of our magnetic and power electronic
filtering products. This opportunity will allow you to gain valuable
professional experience within an industry leading company. Required
Competencies Strong skills in electrical circuits, magnetics, power
systems and analog/digital electronics Exposure to poly-phase power
systems, transformers and motors Exposure to power electronic circuits
including rectifiers, inverters and variable speed motor drives Strong
troubleshooting skills and familiarity with 480V power laboratory safety
and test methodologies. The ability and willingness to take independent
action and complete job task. Additionally, the willingness to seek out
additional assignments. The desire to take full ownership of all
assigned tasks and complete them in an efficient, timely manner.
Effective written and verbal communication skills. Additional Desired
Competencies Knowledge of magnetic design principles including
calculation of inductance, flux density, losses, material properties,
lamination thickness and characterization of saturation. Knowledge of
analysis tools such as MathCAD, Excel and MATLAB. Knowledge of
simulation tools such as PSIM, Simplorer, Saber, SimPowerSystems and
PSpice. Knowledge of feedback control system theory. Ability to operate
typical lab diagnostic equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers,
digital multi meters, harmonic analyzers, surface mount soldering rework
tools and bench power supplies. Knowledge of power electronic circuit
design including gate drive circuits, MOSFET and IGBT selection and
characterization, thermal loss calculations, and bus plane design. Job
