GENERAL SUMMARY This position requires the employee to participate in the Authoritys Apprenticeship Program. The Mechanic Aide I, II, III, IV assists in the repair maintenance of all Authority mechanical equipment. Progression from one level to the next depends upon a variety of factors such as time in position, performance, additional skill and training, and the discretion and approval of the Authoritys management. These increments are not automatic. Attitude, attendance, and other subjective criteria will also be considered by the Authority. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES * Responsible to assist in the maintenance of the Authoritys mechanical equipment in a safe and efficient manner. * Implement preventive maintenance programs. * Assist in maintaining uninterrupted operation of all mechanical equipment. * Be responsible and liable for a basic set of tools when issued by the Authority. * Responsible to maintain good housekeeping practices. * May be required to perform tasks while utilizing respiratory protection. * Be available for emergencies on a 24-hour basis. * Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Required Education: * High school diploma or equivalent Preferred Education: * Advanced training in the electrical field * Completion of Basic Wastewater course Required Work Experience: * Two (2) years experience as an electrician associated with repair and overhaul of large electrical equipment, transformers, motor control centers, distribution systems, and other electrical devices similar to those used in wastewater treatment facilities. Preferred Work Experience: * Work experience that demonstrates basic knowledge of electronic control devices, such as variable frequency drives Required Skills and Abilities: * Ability to work from equipment manuals and schematics * Ability to work with hand tools and various power tools associated with electrical repair * Ability to pass a baseline physical; including Tdap vaccine and pulmonary function test Required Licenses and Certifications: * Valid New Jersey Driver License * May require a Commercial Driver License with endorsements depending on divisional needs
