Greater Rocky Mountain Stone, L.L.C. is seeking Four (4) fulltime temporary Mason workers from 04/01/2025 to 12/31/2025 in Bozeman, Montana (Primary Worksite: 2887 Jackrabbit Lane, Bozeman, MT 59718 (Gallatin County). Secondary Worksite: Big Sky, MT 59716 (Madison County)).
DUTIES: Construct and/or repair interior/exterior stone and/or brick veneer walls and patio stone flat work. Lay out stonework patterns and modular brick/block applications using measuring tools. Shape and cut stone for setting using hammer, chisel, and other tools. Cut or break bricks and blocks to size using hand or other tools. Mix and apply mortar for vertical and horizontal stone/brick/block applications. Set stone/brick in place according to layout or pattern. Ensure horizontal and vertical alignment using plumb bob, level, and other tools. Fill joints between stones/bricks and tool mortar joints with tuck pointer for finish. Clean excess mortar, mud, and dirt from face of stone/brick/block. Apply decorative masonry finishes, including smooth or polish stone faces to project specifics. Build shells for fireplace, chimney, and/or support ledges using prefabricated concrete masonry units (CMU). Level and plumb structures. Drill holes in stone, brick, or block and install anchors, rebar, or other supports. Attach angle iron to existing walls for stone/brick support ledge. Attach wall tie fasteners. Tack waterproofing underlayment to wall behind stone/brick. Demo masonry materials for repair or construction. Construct scaffolding sets for high wall applications. Install temporary window, door, and floor protection materials during construction work. Construct plastic-lined shelter for exterior work performed in cold and/or inclement weather, and remove snow as needed. Dig out and remove dirt/organic material to expose top of poured footings. Clean jobsite, tools, and equipment. Inspect and maintain tools and equipment. Load and unload masonry materials into and out of vehicles. Operate forklifts, skid steers, and related equipment. Move and/or stock work areas with stone, brick, and block materials. May operate company vehicle, if licensed.
REQUIREMENTS: Twelve (12) months’ experience as a stonemason, brickmason, or blockmason. Must be available for the entire period of employment. Must be able to frequently stand and bend, stoop, squat, crouch, walk and kneel. Able to push, pull, lift, carry, and/or move weight, equipment, and material necessary to complete assigned tasks. Employer will rely on worker’s own representations and observations of worker to assess if worker meets this qualification. Use hand/fingers/arms to frequently grasp/grip/handle/lift/carry items. Frequently walk/climb or balance, reach with hands/arms and occasionally climb stairs and sit. Use vision to read and to determine accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned. Occasionally work in extreme cold, extreme heat, during changing temperatures or inclement weather. Must be able to take direction in simple English and frequently work in humid, wet, noisy, hazardous conditions, in an enclosed space, or in a vibrating work environment. Able to wear personal protective equipment as required by employer. Driver license preferred but not required.
TERMS & CONDITIONS: Pay is no less than $32.00/hr, with possible increase based on experience, performance, skill, tenure, or assignment. Must be available to work 8 hours per day, evenings, weekends and/or holidays as needed. At least 35 hours/week Mon-Sat, days/shifts vary between the hours of 7AM and 6PM, or as needed. Overtime is paid at $48.00/hr and is sometimes available based on business demands. Pay period is every two weeks. Employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due. Employer to make all payroll deductions required by law. Employer provides tools, supplies, equipment required to perform job at no charge, and on-the-job training regarding procedures, methods, and standards.
Employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-quarters of workdays in each 12-week period of total employment period. Employer reimburses H-2B worker in first work week for visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government (excluding passport fees). Employer provides advance payment for transportation and subsistence (including meals/as needed, lodging), from place of recruitment, whether in US or abroad, to workplace, if worker completes 50% of work contract period. Daily subsistence provided at a rate of $15.88/day during travel; maximum of $59/day with receipts. Upon work contract completion or if dismissed earlier, employer provides or pays for worker's reasonable return transportation costs and subsistence back home or to place worker originally departed to work, except when the worker elects not to return due to subsequent employment with another U.S. employer or where employer appropriately reports the worker's voluntary job abandonment. Transport payment/reimbursement amount equal to most economical & reasonable common carrier for distance involved.
Employer will provide daily transportation to and from the worksite. Employer offers discretionary pay advances, repayments are deducted from paycheck(s).
